Privacy Policy

Overview

CyberPath ("we", "us", or "our") operates this website as a free study companion for the CompTIA Security+ (SY0-701) exam. This policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, the third parties involved, and the choices you have. By using CyberPath you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

Stored in your browser. CyberPath keeps your username, avatar selection, study progress, display settings, and practice-exam results in your browser's local storage. That content — including your username — stays on your device and is never sent to our servers. We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, or payment information.

Anonymous usage data on our servers. To understand how the site is actually used, we record a small amount of anonymous data: a random identifier that your browser generates for itself (it is not derived from anything about you and never includes your username), which lessons have been marked complete, practice-exam scores, and the time of your most recent activity.

Aggregate traffic counts. We keep daily totals of how many times each page was viewed and which websites referred visitors to us (the referring site's hostname only, never the full address). These daily totals are kept for about 13 months and then automatically deleted. We do not store your IP address, and no cookie is set for this purpose. To see how many different people visit — along with general location, device, and page-load performance — we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless analytics service; see the Third-Party Services section below.

As with most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) records standard server logs for security and operational purposes. In addition, the third-party services described below — including our advertising partner, Google — may automatically collect information through cookies and similar technologies.

How We Use Your Data

Locally stored progress data powers the study tracker and exam-history features within the app. Anonymous usage and traffic data is used only in aggregate — to see which lessons and articles are actually being read, to find pages that are broken or unused, and to decide what to build next. It is never used to build a profile of an individual, is never sold, and is not shared with our advertising partner. Server logs are used to operate and secure the site. Information collected by our advertising and embedded-media partners is governed by their own privacy policies, linked below.

Advertising & Google AdSense

CyberPath uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to CyberPath and/or other sites on the internet.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies to serve ads on this site.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You may opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.
• For details on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see Google's partner-sites policy.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. CyberPath's own features rely mainly on local browser storage rather than cookies, but the following cookies may be set:

• Essential cookies — required for the Cloudflare network and basic site security.
• Advertising cookies — set by Google and its partners to serve and measure ads.
• Embedded-media cookies — set by YouTube when you play the optional ambient study sounds.

You can disable or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may stop working correctly.

Your Consent Choices (EU, UK & Switzerland)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you can withdraw consent for personalized-advertising cookies at any time using the opt-out links in the Advertising section above, and using your browser's own cookie controls.

Third-Party Services

CyberPath relies on the following third parties, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, the database that holds our anonymous usage statistics, cookieless traffic analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics), and the login that restricts our internal statistics dashboard to site administrators (privacy policy).
• Google AdSense — advertising (privacy policy).
• YouTube (Google) — optional ambient study-sound playback (privacy policy).

Data Security

All data transmitted between your browser and CyberPath is encrypted using TLS. Data stored in your browser's local storage is not encrypted at rest, so you should not put sensitive information into your username. The anonymous usage data described above is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database inside Cloudflare's network.

Your Rights

You can clear all locally stored data at any time through your browser settings. The "Delete Profile" option within the app removes everything CyberPath has stored in your browser and also asks our server to delete the anonymous records tied to your browser's random identifier. Because we hold no name or email address, that identifier is the only way we can locate those records — if you clear your browser storage first, we no longer have any way to find them. Aggregate daily counts that contain no identifier at all (for example, "this page was viewed 400 times on a given day") are not deleted, because they cannot be linked to any individual. You can also contact us with any request. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to opt out of personalized advertising using the links in the Advertising section above.

Children's Privacy

CyberPath is intended for a general audience preparing for a professional certification and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
